Kiwi Crate Day

I can't believe I am really posting about a rainy day since it is currently a million degrees out. Not really, but anything over 105 degrees feels like a million! Last week during our rainy day the girls hung out in their jammies most of the day. But then changed clothes a few times (like they do everyday). They played Candyland and Hi-Ho Cheerio and did lots of crafts. Grandma and Paka got the girls a subscription to Kiwi Crates for Christmas. It is a box of activities that comes to our doorstep every month and it has 2 activities. All of the supplies are included and the girls love it. We don't always do them right when they come, but for days like this, it is awesome! So we made bird costume and detective masks. The girls played for hours, pretending to be detectives and spies and couldn't wait to show dad their creations! We had a good indoor day. I guess we were getting ready for this heat wave we are experiencing!

Night Swimming

The girls love the water, and love to swim. We are spoiled because we live 2 blocks away from Grandma and Paka and swim all the time! But it is always fun to go to the "big" pools (public) in Davis and have an extra fun night. This particular night we went to Manor Pool where it has a high dive and slide! Allison has not been tall enough for the slide, but this year she was taller than the mark and got to go on the slide over and over. It was a pretty big deal! Allison also jumped off the hight dive over and over and loved it. I don't know if I could do it...but she just goes off like a pro! Paige liked swimming with Geoff in the other pools. Grandma and Paka came to watch the girls. It was a fun night at the pool.

Fishing with Dad

Geoff has been at home taking care of the girls and me, while I am recovering from my tonsillectomy. We did not think I would really be "down" for the week to 10 days that everyone has told us about. Of course I thought Hey I did great with the c-sections, so how hard can a tonsillectomy really be? Boy was I wrong...it has been pretty brutal. For the last 8 days, I have been living on little bits of soft foods, but mostly jello, water and shaved ice. This is day 8 and I am working some other foods into my diet, but eating is a chore, and not fun, so I will keep trying! Each day is a little better and I will recover eventually. I have decided I will never be an anorexic, or a pill popper...I just feel plain crappy. But I know this is short lived, so I will suck it up and deal with it!! While Geoff has been running Daddy daycare, they have had a few fishing outings. Geoff and Grandma Ganne took Paige the first time to check out the fishing hole, and she caught a fish, so of course it was awesome. So then he took Allison and Paka the next morning (Paige slept in with me) and she  caught 4 fish! I think this also might be a new favorite outing.

This one is from Geoff's phone so it is not so great...will get some good ones of Paigee next trip!
This has been the recovery life saver!

Vacation Bible School

Last year we had our first experience with VBS at Allison's old pre-school. The girls went a few evenings in the summer and loved it. This year Bethany again, the planner she is, told us about the VBS at her church that was a week long. Allison absolutely loved it. She made new friends and loved the teen workers in her group. She was very sad on the last day and I was recovering from a tonsillectomy so she made a picture to remind her of camp, and is looking forward to going back for "the next six years". It was a great time for all kiddos and they did crafts, sang songs, played games and had a great time. I see many years of VBS in our future!! Paige will get to go next year!

FFTF

Our friend Bethany is a great mama of 4 busy boys and a great planner. The first day of summer vacation there was an email in my inbox about FFTF (Fun Field Trip Friday) and a whole list of great places for us to visit over the summer. She made the list, and then sends out emails with more detailed info each week. Our fist outing was a trip on the Double Decker Bus in Davis! We have talked about doing this for a while, but were not sure where to catch it! Now that we know the route, it might be a new fun thing for us to do more often! It was a great little trip and the girls had a blast. Look for more posts about FFTF throughout the summer!

Swimming Lessons

Morley's Swim School is always one of the highlights of our summer. Allison loves taking swimming lessons there, and Paige gets to take "formal" lessons this year! The girls are doing awesome, crazy to see how fast they progress each day. Allison just graduated to the deep end of the pool and is super excited. Now if Paige would quit diving to the bottom of the pool, and using "alligator arms" like she is supposed to! She does a great job and is a great little swimmer!
