Halloween 2010

Our final event for October was trick-or-treating on Halloween night. Allie took a super long nap since she had a great time at the party earlier in the day. When she woke up she was not in the mood to go out so she helped pass out candy. She was having a great time until a scary wolf man came to the door then she was done! Grandma and Paka came over to go trick-or-treating but just helped pass out candy since Allie did not want to go. Then around 8:00 she decided she wanted to go......I should have known....she did the same thing last year. We walked down our street and it was totally low key. It was a good night and we had a great month!!! Allie's favorite Halloween story was Big Pumpkin and loves to "read" it to anyone who will listen. I will post a video of her reading it pretty soon!

Eathorne's Halloween Party

We had a great time at Burke and Jenn Eathorne's 4th Annual Halloween Party. Allie woke up Sunday morning and was so excited for the party. She said "I am so exited to go to the party at Carter James' house...will there be cake?" After singing her Halloween songs at church we headed out to Rancho Murieta for the party. Jenn and Burke do such a great job decorating and making it fun for the kids. They had all kinds of Halloween treats, yummy food, fun games, a hay ride and of course trick-or-treating around their neighborhood. They have very kind, generous neighbors and the kids get lots of great treats. Allie hitched a ride on Geoff's shoulders halfway through and had fun. Paige strolled for a bit and then fell asleep in the front carrier. It wouldn't be a true Halloween without a party at the Eathornes! Last year Jenn and I were both pregnant and this year we had a little ladybug and pumpkin fairy in the mix! It was a wonderful party!

Trick-or-Treat Trail

Every year the Friday before Halloween all of the businesses in downtown Davis have a Trick-or-Treat Trail during the day for the kiddos and it is a lot of fun. Allie still talks about trick-or-treating there last year so we had to go this year and make it a tradition. This year took Grandma Ganne with us, and we met cousins Ruby and Nora, Uncle Jerry and Aunt Fay and our friends Alissa and Kevin and their baby girl Addie. They had fun at first but then Allie started to get spooked by the scary masks. After trick-or-treating for a while she said "I want to go home" I said "Really Allie this is fun and the scary masks are just pretend"...and she said "I don't want to come back, never, ever, never again". So we closed our eyes when we passed scary masks and went and had ice cream with Grandma Ganne and picked out a Halloween book at Borders! Paige just rolled with the flow...she didn't seem to mind the scary masks! All and all it was fun, just cut a little short!

Preschool Halloween Songs

Allie has had a great time learning Halloween songs at school during the month of October. Last week they finally got to go perform at a retirement home here in town. Geoff and Paige and I were there to cheer Allie on. Allie was not as animated as she can be but still had fun. I think she was a little unsure of what to expect...I should have done a better job preparing her for what to expect at a retirement home. It was fun to see all of the 3 year olds singing and doing all of their little hand motions.

Then they got to sing at a second gig at the church service where Allie goes to school on Halloween morning. It was a lot of fun, and she totally got into it, and was very animated. Grandma and Paka joined us and enjoyed seeing her perform!

Welcome Jack

I really can't believe I am writing a post about our new DOG! I am totally not a dog person but know that every kid needs a dog....right? Geoff and I have talked about getting a dog for a long time but never really had a serious talk about it. We have talked enough about it that we know we would SOMEDAY want a lab or a beagle. Since yesterday was a stormy, wet day Geoff told Allie we could go to the SPCA and look at dogs. We talked a lot about how we would not take a dog home and were just looking and kind of getting an idea...

We pull up and see a bunch of people out front and then a lady with a beagle. I am thinking hmm....maybe the dogs aren't so bad here....he is really cute. The idea of a "used" dog just is not my style...but I was going to have an open mind on our little adventure! So Paige wants to nurse when we get there and I told Geoff and Allie to head in to look at the dogs and I will meet them once Paige is done eating. But before they enter, they start talking to the lady with the beagle. When Geoff keeps talking and petting the dog and looking at me in the car, I know what he is thinking. And I am thinking...if this dog is so great why is she bringing it to the pound?

Well....this dog showed up on her street and she started feeding it and let it stay with her while she looked for the owner. She has had him for 2 weeks and the owners did not call her back. She had three dogs of her own and a small house and yard and can't keep him. I am still very skeptical....and Geoff is saying we will take him. I said "Where will we put him? We have nothing for a dog....He is not riding in the front of the car....No we were not getting a dog we were just on a family adventure"....well I was out voted and we have a new dog. Thank goodness Uncle Scott works at the feed store. Geoff ran over to Higby's and got all of the things we need. Then we took him to the vet last night for a check up and shots and he has a clean bill of health. Allie is excited that he is here to stay. He slept all night in the crate and is doing well. I am still on the fence but he seems like a keeper. I think I have officially lost my marbles!!!

Big Girls

I can't believe how big the girls are getting. Paige is sitting up all by herself, talking up a storm and rolling over. Allie is reading stories, spelling her name, wants us to spell everything and loves going to school. Really she memorizes the stories but it is so fun to listen to her read with expression and voice. It is awesome. Here are a few shots of our big girls!!!
