Tooth Fairy Visits

Allison has been so excited to loose a tooth, but her little baby teeth are not loose at all. But her permanent bottom teeth have been poking up behind for a while and then they just popped up and were almost as tall as her baby teeth. I started to get worried that she would not be able to get them clean enough, so called the dentist to see what we should do. She said to bring her in, and they would probably have to pull them out! Since Allison loves the dentist, I didn't want to scare her, but also wanted to give her a heads up. She has had a cavity filled so she knows about the "mask that makes her feel silly".  She thought that would be ok, but was nervous. I told her how exciting it would be if she left the dentist office with her teeth because she would get to use her tooth fairy pillow and the tooth fairy would visit. She was a little more excited but still unsure. Since her permanent teeth were too far behind the baby teeth they did not push on the roots at all so her teeth had these huge roots.

It is kinda crazy. To think on minute they were perfectly anchored in her mouth and then just pulled out! Allie thinks her big, huge holes are kinda cool.....

She was a trooper and was concerned that the tooth fairy would have to take her teeth to leave her money. I told her to write a note to the tooth fairy and that she would probably understand and leave her teeth!

Paige was very excited for the tooth fairy to visit. She thinks she has a few loose teeth and really "needs her own tooth fairy pillow"...In true Gandma Ganne fashion...she tracked one down for Paige!

The tooth fairy read her note because she left her teeth and $10 sparkly dollars! She was excited and took her teeth for show and tell the next day!

Paigee Girl

Paige is still into dress up and playing the the sandbox. She loves pretending and playing with the doll house, Lego Friends, "guys" and keeps herself entertained with all kids of stuff. She still loves going to school 2 days a week and sometimes misses "Owlie" (that is how she says Allie) while she is at school. This day she felt like dressing up and then playing in the sandbox with no clothes. With this warm weather  in January we could do "skins" in the sandbox!

Junior Kings Basketball

Allison started playing basketball through the YMCA. There are a few girls on her team from her softball team and some girls from school, so it fun to be together on Saturday mornings! Allison scored a basket last week and was super excited. Paige is a good little sister and has fun cheering on the team! Geoff is helping coach so that is fun for him and for Allison!

Disney Jr. Live

The girls are suckers for commercials and have been talking about going to see Disney Jr. Live on stage. Grandma and Paka got us tickets for Christmas and we traveled to Oakland and see the show. Disney never disappoints and it was a great day. The girls had fun and loved seeing all of their favorite characters. I only had my i-phone and it was hard to get good pictures of the show but we had a good time.

On the way home Allison asked if we could stop by and see Addie and Liam on the way home. She knows they live off of 80 near the Jelly Belly Factory, so it must have popped in her head when we passed by on our way to the show! I told her it would be too short of notice and we needed to plan ahead. But she said "Just text Alissa and see what she says." I was hesitant but Alissa said it would be great and they were just home. We hung out for a bit and it  was a fun impromptu playdate with the Widmer kiddos! Fun way to end our day!

New Years Hike

Geoff did a little research on a great family hiking spot. The girls and I were excited but I was a little skeptical. I have to give a little background on the "hikes" we have gone on, so you know where I am coming from!

The first, (and I thought it would be the last) was when Geoff and I were dating. We decided to do a hike at a cool spot in Oregon that was close to our college campus. So we started out doing a 3 mile loop but Geoff wanted to keep going. Of course I was game, but then we got to mile 6 and I was like ya, this is not so cool. It started raining and was cold. We decided to go ahead and complete the 11 mile hike. Remember I was done at mile 6. So we were like a half mile from the end and there was a sign that said the trail was washed out and we couldn't go any farther. I was furious. I looked at Geoff and said "you can call a life flight helicopter because there is no way I am turning around and going back." I was dead serious!! He said well our other option is to scale the washed out path. We looked across and there was a couple doing it so we decided to go for it. Probably not the smartest thing to do, but we scaled the muddy, washed out trail and made it. That is the short of it, but it was not a great experience.

The next one was when my dad was in town and I was 9 months pregnant. I think my due date was in like 2 weeks and Geoff found a great trail out by Folsom Lake. I was thinking sure....paved trail, easy, fun....well after driving around and finally finding the trail....there was no way I was "hiking". It was an equestrian train, had huge pot holes and divots, was a dirt path, and there was no cell service. I like the outdoors, but did not want to deliver Paige on an equestrian trail with no cell service. So we settled on throwing rocks in a pond.

After our not so great experiences with hiking we had a great time last week. Geoff found a hiking spot near Berryessa. Paka joined us and we had a lot of fun. We did not make it the whole way to the top, but for our first time with both girls it was perfect. We will go again for sure!

We did it!!!!

Polar Plunge

Geoff and the girls have been talking for quite a while about jumping in Grandma and Paka's pool on New Years Day! Well it was that day, and not one of them forgot. So as they were super excited and thought this was such a great idea, as Geoff was their biggest cheerleader, I told them all of the not so great parts about it. It was going to be cold, it would not be fun, they might get hypothermia, someone would be crying, they would be so cold the shower would sting when they got out....I might as well been saying blah...blah...blah...because that is all they heard! When a grand idea is thought up, no one thinks about the reality, and mom of course, has no clue what she is talking about! So the little darlings hopped in the pool like it was 95 degrees out, and lets just say......I think they might listen to mom next time :o) Both girls were balling their eyes out and did not have any fun at all. Geoff was a good sport and jumped back in to help ease their pain. Maybe next time they will hum the little tune from Rapunzel....Mother....knows....best!

UCD Barns

When we returned home from Oregon during Winter break, my cousin Stephanie and her husband Tim, and daughter Ellie were in Cali for the weekend. We tried to think of something fun to do for the girls but couldn't really decide, so we said how about go to UCD to the animal barns. We always go for little outings to the barns and it is always fun. The girls love it. So we made are usual rounds. First the horses and goats. Then onto the cows, and last stop at the sheep barns. The girls were happy to show Ellie the ropes and she was a happy little camper. It was a beautiful day and we loved spending the day with them. We headed over to the Habit for lunch and the girls ran around the courtyard. It was a fun day and we hope they will visit again soon!
