Weather Watcher

Today was a GREAT day for Allie at school. She has been waiting patiently since the first day of school to be the Weather Watcher! Everyday at circle time a students name is drawn out of a can and they get to give the weather report. It does not sound that exciting but it is a HUGE deal at pre-school! Allie met me after school with an ear to ear smile and said "I got to be the weather watcher". She said "I could hardly believe my eyes when they took out my name and it said A-L-L-I-S-O-N". I asked her what she said, and she explained "I was so excited I yelled hip-hip-hooray" oh how I wish I could have been there to see her in action! One of her teachers said she did awesome and had lots to report! Her weather report was "a little sunny, a little windy and you need a jacket". Today was truly a GREAT DAY at Great Day Preschool!!!!

Thanksgiving Dinner

When Geoff and I got married our plan for the holidays was to be in Oregon one year and Cali one year. Last year we did not go to Oregon because I was just pregnant with Paige and did not want to fly early in my pregnancy. So this year we planned on spending the week in Oregon. However, we did not make it to Oregon this year for Thanksgiving. The roads were too bad so we didn't want to risk it. We stayed home and had a nice day at Grandma and Paka's house. Allison, Ruby, Nora and Kainoa had fun playing together and it was nice to visit with the fam. Paige loved watching the kids...she wanted to get in the mix so bad but since she is not mobile, she just had to screech and kick her feet and wiggle! We had lots of yummy food and Allie said her school prayer for everyone before dinner. I wish I had more pics but when I finally got my camera out to take pictures the flash was not working!

Thankful

We are very thankful and blessed to have two healthy, sweet, and happy baby girls. We couldn't imagine life without them. We love our girls!!!

Turkey Hand Cookies

Allie has seen the recipe and demonstration of Turkey Hand Cookies on Nick Jr. during her shows and always asks to make them. One rainy night we went to the store and got the ingredients and decided to make them the next day. They were pretty easy...I only lost fingers on a few of them and needed to work on my patience a little when they broke :o) We had fun decorating them and they turned out pretty cute.

Amazing Pa

Allie always has a great time when she sees Grandma Rhonda and Pa. We don't get to see them as much as we would like in person...so we Skype with them but it is never the same. Last weekend Pa came for a visit. Grandma came up in September so Pa came alone this time. He wanted to come take Allie to school but she was off on Thursday so we just played instead. Pa does not get a break when he visits. From the minute he gets off the plane Allie has his playdate planned! Paige does not know what she is in for once she can run around and play. She enjoyed watching Als. We had a nice visit with my dad, and can't wait to see the whole fam in December!

Neighbors

We have great neighbors and are thankful to have them. Lolita and Pat have a granddaughter who is at their house often and Allie loves her "best friend" Angelina. Allie gets so excited to play with Angelina. I think they get out everything in the house but have an awesome time so it is worth it. Angelina is older than Allie but they have a blast. The other night Angelia was staying overnight at her grandparents so she came over at night to have a cup of hot cocoa with whipped cream AND sprinkles!

Our other great neighbors are Benjamin and Esperanza. They always make us wonderful tamales and yummy food and love to see the girls. They have three big boys so it is fun when Allie greets Benjamin at his truck after a long day of work. The other night they surprised us with these darling shawls for the girls that Esperanza made. Allie and Paige both put them on and looked so cute!

Big Pumpkin

So my post is a little late since I just got around to uploading videos but it will be worth it...I promise. In early October when I picked Allie up from school she was all excited about a new story they read at circle time . She did not know the name of it, but it was about a witch, a mummy, a bat, a ghost and an "umpire"...I am thinking umpire...really...why in a Halloween book? If I would have really stopped and thought about it I could have figured out that the umpire was a vampire...duh mom! On the way home Allie told me all about the book and pretty much recited the whole story. She said she wanted to go to "that one bookstore in Davis" (Borders) to find it. There were two small details we were missing...I didn't know the title or the author. But I figured we could give it a whirl and try to find it. We went to Borders and I did a few searches and found nothing. Then we went to the seasonal table one more time before we left and I saw a book titled BIG PUMPKIN. I held it up to show Allie and she was speechless....she hugged the book and kissed it. Needless to say we bought the book and have been reading it daily since. A few days after getting the book she could read (memorized) the whole thing. It is crazy what her little brain remembers! Some days she is totally animated and changes her voice, some days she just reads it and some days she has us read it to her. Either way she does not skip a word or let you skip one either. This is not the best recording and she is not too animated since it was bedtime but here is our little reader, reading Big Pumpkin. There is something that just warms your heart when listening to your own child read (even if it is memorized). I think this will forever be one of our favorite stories!

Half Birthday

I know I say this in every monthly post but where in the world does the time go? Paige is really 6 months old already! She is such a sweet girl and is doing all kinds of things these days. She sits up alone and is very proud of herself. She has been sitting up independently for the last few weeks and is getting stronger each day. She loves seeing what is going on in this crazy house! She has 4 teeth now and is not sure about them, but they are there to stay! To help soothe her gums I put an ice cube in a mesh feeding bag and she loves it. We have not tried food in it yet, but she loves ice cubes and to suck on wash cloths. Wash cloths are great for lots of things...she loves playing peek-a-boo. When she has a blanket or towel or anything she can grab she puts it over her face and smiles. She can't say peek-a-boo but her little body language and facial expressions are saying peek-a-boo. She also loves to play pat-a-cake. She pats me when she wants to nurse or is tired. All of the little things she knows amazes us! We thought we would try rice cereal when she turned 6 months and she was not too sure about it but kept it down. She had 3 bites and then that was enough. She shook her head...no more mama! She still loves her big sister. Paige loves watching Allie and interacting with her. It is fun to see the girls together. I can't wait to watch them as they grow up! We are very blessed and love our little Paigee Kates!

The Big 3-4

Daddy turned 34 on the 8th and we have had a lot of fun celebrating his birthday. I don't know if Geoff ever dreamed he would be eating pink, sprinkle cupcakes on his 34th Birthday but he did and Allie was very proud of them. She helped me make them in the morning while Paige was asleep and she said "Daddy will be so excited and will just love them!" Crazy how exciting cupcakes can be to a 3 year old! On Sunday, we had a family celebration at Rob and Georgeanne's and had a nice dinner. Then we had a low key night at home and sang happy birthday with our little family. Jack was Geoff's birthday present and I think Jack is happy that Geoff had a birthday and to be in our home. I think he knows he has a much better life than he would have at the pound. Happy Birthday to Geoff--the best dad and husband in the world! We look forward to many more fun year ahead!! We love you lots!!
