Horse Camp

While we were in Oregon for a quick trip, my cousin Kristen invited us to horse camp with her girls at Sande School of Horsemanship. We were not sure what we were in for, but the girls were super excited. It was extra special because it was Allison's real birthday and it was a great way to celebrate a birthday. The "girl" who runs the camp is my cousin's friend so I have know her since she was a little girl.  Now, she is all grown up and is an amazing camp leader and instructor. At camp, the girls learned about horses, got to wash horses, ride horses, paint horses and did a crafts. And in true cowgirl fashion Paige "got" to scoop some poop at the end of the day. The instructor said "real cowgirls are not afraid to work hard or afraid to get dirty" so they were true cowgirls for the day! It was an awesome camp and we will go again for sure!!

The Birthday Girl is ready for camp.....
The whole gang of campers.....

Kassi teaching the kids about their "block hand" when they wash....
Allie washing away....

Showing teeth...not a happy camper, but she was one clean horse
Paige's first session was painting the horse for 4th of July....

After washing, Allie got to go to the arena to ride. She had Marlene (the owner) and she was amazing...

After doing a mini lesson in the arena they headed out to the trail.. Allie got to ride Kiddo

Paigee girl on her pony named Pearl....
"Simon says...no hands"....Paige was perfectly balanced.....so cool to see...

Keslin was in Paige's group so we got to see her ride too....

On their way back from the trail ride...P had a blast.....

When you hang out in a horse barn all day you have to pet a few horses.....
Paige's turn to wash....she got right in there....
Her block hand was up and ready to protect her.....
Keslin not so sure at first.....
Then Kassi helped and she did a great job....
The group scrumming away.....

After all the showers there was a mess. Cassie asked which cowgirl wanted to help and Paige grabbed the pooper scooper...

With some team work they cleaned up the mess!
This was an amazing day for the girls, and quite the "cowgirl" experience. If you have little ones and are in the Portland Area (Warren, Oregon) you should check out Sande Stables.
