San Francisco Trip

On Martin Luther King Day, we packed up the car and headed South for a day in San Francisco. Geoff is not always a fan of the city (traffic, expense, not knowing where we are, crowds, ect.) but usually when we go we have a great time. Geoff's sister Jennifer, and her husband Timi totally know their way around the city and it is fun to go with them. Before we had kids, we would meet up with them in the city once and a while and it was always fun. We have talked about meeting up now with the kids, but I don't think we have ever done it until last Monday. The kids are a great age to enjoy the sites.

The girls love "the city" and were super excited to go. It was a perfect trip. The weather was beautiful, the crowds were great and there was no traffic! We started our day with a cable car ride from Ghirardelli Square to Union Square, and ended our day at the beach across from Girardelli Square. The city is an amazing place to me, and you truly feel like you are in a different world. On my way to work one day, I heard something on talk radio that said "the area you live in in SF defines you" and I think this is somewhat true. There are so many different pockets and neighborhoods that all have their own unique style and feel. It was fun to show the girls the ropes and they had many "firsts" on this day. They had a great time on their first cable car ride, first Ghirardelli ice cream, first time with "Bush Man" encounters, and even had their first taxi cab ride. All 7 of us pilled in to one taxi from Union Square back to Pier 39. It was only a short distance so we thought it was "semi safe".  We had a great day and can't wait for our next trip!

When we got home our little studious girl Als wrote a story about her trip...
Here is the translation:
"San Francisco is like the park. I love San Francisco because the sea lions are silly, especially the babies."
