Advent Calendars...Oh My

It is so fun to have traditions each year. It makes everything so much more exciting during the holiday season. Every year, Uncle Jerry and Aunt Fay give the girls a chocolate Advent Calendar at Thanksgiving. Thank goodness Thanksgiving was late this year, because it seems like December 1st takes forever to come when the girls are waiting to open their chocolate calendars. This has been one of the favorite ways to start the day at the Hulbert House since Allie was little. She used to call it the "chocolate game". Here is a little throw back from Christmas 2009.....Allie's first Chocolate Advent Calendar!! Her face says it all..it has always been exciting!!

Part of the magic and mystery of Bo and Holly is that you can not touch them. Since the girls love them so much, Bo and Holly brought them "doll elves" and Elf on the Shelf Advent Calendars.  Since they are "dolls" and not the real elves, they can play with them, sleep with them and keep them year round. The girls were thrilled and love their new elves.

The girls love Lego Friends  so I thought it would be fun for them to have the  Lego Friends Advent Calendar. But it was not easy to find! Grandma Rhonda came to the rescue and bought it for us in Oregon and shipped it to the girls. I found a few on Amazon since they were sold out everywhere  else, but the price was double the actual cost. So I thought I would go out on a limb and call Fred Meyer near my parents, to see if they had one. They did, and mom picked it up and shipped it. We will have to plan ahead next year and buy it in September! I swear, pretty soon we will have Black Friday on Halloween!

Cheers to counting the days until Christmas with Bo, Holly and the Advent Calendars!!
