Fair Nights and Carnival Lights

When the County Fair is in town it is always a huge deal in the Hulbert House! The girls love going to the fair and love this time of year. It is always hot and sweaty but we always have fun! The girls always enter something in the the fair. This year the girls were in different divisions. Allison entered a flower arrangement with the "cotton candy" theme. Paige entered a cactus "garden", but it was really a ferris wheel. Grandma and Paka helped the girls get their entries ready and the girls both won 1st place! Allison won Best Overall in her class. It was fun to see the girls with their first place ribbons!

On Thursday, we went during the day so we could ride lots of rides with our bracelets. I took the girls alone and don't know if I will ever do that again. We were all walking together and I looked down and Paige was not with us. She continued walking down "game row" and we turned into kiddy land. Panic set it, but as soon as I looked over, there she was. It was only a few seconds but seemed like forever. A very nice "carnie" had her by the hand. I did not even say thank you, I just swooped her up. I felt terrible so the next night when we went back, I went and found him and said thank you. Things can happen in an instant...such a terrible feeling! But Paige wiped her tears and we had a fun time. She said "I am glad that nice Carnie saved my life". Oh Paigee girl..... After our little hiccup, we ran into friends and rode a few rides.
Next we moved on to the fishing game. This is a goofy little game, but the girls love to go back year after year.

The next night we met up with the Kolb Family and had fun walking through the Fair together. The kids love to ride the horses!

More rides....

Had to end the night with a "real" shaved ice. They were a perfect treat on a hot night.

We usually spend a lot of time in the barns, but this year the girls were more into games and rides. We did stop by the sheep and pig barns.

On Sunday, we had a few tickets left and met up with cousin Kainoa to hang out. It was super low key and we had a nice day. By Sunday we were "faired out" and I think the Carnies were too. They were super nice and we enjoyed talking to some of them and learning about the carnival life. Sure not an easy one!

Paige had to take one last spin on the horses.
And  shared one last yummy shaved ice!

We ended our fair weekend on the red carpet at the Disney Radio Station booth. It was a fun weekend!
